We’ve already learned that the luxury handset sector ain’t hurting even though the economy is (B&O notwithstanding), so it follows logic to see Vertu crafting a new line of covetable mobiles for the affluent. Reportedly, the Ferrari Ascent Ti collection will consist of three phones that all sport the iconic Ferrari logo along with a catchy paint job to further illustrate the automotive connection.
Read more
ÂÂThe market for Bluetooth headsets is set to almost double from just under 60 million units shipped in 2007 to over 115 million by 2010. The market is however showing serious doubts on its profitability and on the level of growth previously expected. As analysed in MGDP Consulting’s latest report, the huge availability of basic (low cost) Bluetooth headsets and the continuous fall in their retail price are causing some of the companies and manufacturers to reconsider their presence and/or positioning in the market. As it seems HTC are prepping a WiMAX/GSM-enabled device – the HTC T8290 – to allow even more flexible wireless internet access. The new device is supposedly almost official as it has been presented at the WiMax World Conference in Chicago.
The HTC T8290 pictured on these images is obviously made for the Russian WiMAX operator Yota. Having a portable WiMAX device seems even cooler in regions that have no 3G support – such as Russia in this case. Read more

This is the first live shot of the upcoming HTC Opal – the phone we all hoped was killed on the drawing board. Carrying specs that are basically identical to the HTC Touch, the Opal is basically the exact opposite of the other leaked HTC handset making the rounds right now, the HTC Touch HD. The only real difference seems to be rubber edges around the perimeter, the new d-pad and the high gloss metallic sparkle finish. We should have some more news on this phone soon, so stay tuned.
RIM has just  announced the BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220. T-Mobile will be the exclusive carrier of the device this year when it is launched in the US and it will come in black or red. We were not given pricing or an exact release date, but we’re assuming those sorts of things will all be made clearer at the next CTIA Show.
Whoa, looks like HTC is going full-device touchscreen in a hurry. We don’t know much more than what we can scrape off the screen, but this BlackBerry Thunder(storm)-like handset looks to be running TouchFLO 3D atop WinMo 6.1 and a Qualcomm 7201a processor kicking 528MHz.
But that display, WVGA, please HTC we want to believe.

Following on the heels of its main rival Nokia, Sony Ericsson’s allegedly also planning an unlimited music downloading service for its Walkman-branded cellphones. According to the Financial Times, Sony Ericsson is in discussions with all major labels about a rival tunes subscription service. The company is purportedly hoping to announce its all-you-can-eat music product before the end of September, with a launch date in Europe before Christmas.
