El BlackBerry Curve 83XX supera al iPhone 3G en los rankings de smartphones en US

5-9-08-curve_8330_vzwEl equipo podría haber sido superado en funcionalidad y apariencia por su sucesor Curve 8900, pero nadie tiene ventaja sobre la serie BlackBerry Curve 83XX en ventas de smartphones. De acuerdo a NDP, el equipo destronó al iPhone 3G en la categoría para el primer trimestre de 2009, mientras que los propios equipos Storm y Pearl de BlackBerry se encuentran en el tercer y cuarto lugar, con el T-Mobile G1 en el quinto lugar. En general, el mercado de smartphones ha crecido de un 17% de ventas en el primer trimestre de 2008 a un 23% en el primer trimestre de 2009. Comparado con el trimestre anterior, RIM ha logrado aumentar su cuota en el mercado de EEUU en un 15% — teniendo casi la mitad de los smartphones – mientras que Apple y Palm han perdido un 10% mientras se preparan para sus heroicos lanzamientos de mitad de año.

El BlackBerry Curve 8900 de RIM llega en forma oficial a AT&T a “principios de verano”

A sólo un día después de que el BlackBerry Curve 8900 de RIM pasaría de T-Mobile a AT&T llega esto – la confirmación oficial de parte de la misma compañía. Cargado con WiFi, GPS y una pantalla con resolución 480 x 360, este ‘Berry incluye WiFi de AT&T gratis a más de 20,000 hotspots (con un plan data ilimitado, aunque suene irónico) y una cámara de 3.2 megapíxeles. También tiene un slot microSD / SDHC que soporta tarjetas de hasta 16GB, y mientras AT&T no nos comunique el precio (ya que no se ha dicho nada aún), los clientes fieles pueden esperar que llegue a “principios de verano”. En otras palabras, todo este lanzamiento ha extinguido el furor de los rumores.

Blackberry Curve 8900 moving to At&t

blackberry-curve-8900-woodThis just in. Blackberry Curve 8900 is making its way from T-Mobile to AT&T –confirmation by carrier. The phone that is jam-packed with WiFi, GPS, a 480 x 360 display, and a 3.2mp camera, which also includes free AT&T WiFi at over 20,000 hotspots (with the purchase of an unlimited data plan). It also has microSD and SDHC slots, which supports to 16GB. It’ll soon be available during the summertime. Pricing is not yet out. So now that the 8900 rumors have been chilled what other amazing stories can be concocted till then.

Blackberry 83XX series leads over iPhone in the US Market

5-9-08-curve_8330_vzwThe numbers are in. And it seems that the Blackberry Curve83XX series in smartphone sales have been topping the charts. According to NPH, the mobile device shot ahead of the iPhone 3G, the first quarter of 2009. Coming up in the third and forth were Blackyberry’s own Storm and Pearl, with the T-Mobile G1sitting semi-pretty in fifth. Smartphones are gaining popularity in the US markets.

Seems like RIM is in a good position with sales as it controls 15% share of the US market, owning almost half of the entire pie. Apple and Palm both dropped a dime as they prepare for their adventurous mid-year launches.
