Even though the Samsung i8510 is hardly the first powerhouse in Samsung’s S60-based portfolio, it’s considerably different from all their offerings in this segment. For starters, let’s recall what other phones Samsung can offer here: as far as its latest solutions go, these are the i400, i520, i550, i560 and G810. What’s remarkable is that all but one of the above phones are housed in the slider type design, which should come as no surprise, seeing what weight this form-factor has always had in their portfolio. This is actually part of the reason why the Samsung i8510 is also a slider – in fact all their hopes now lie with this handset, as they are aiming to take a stab at Nokia’s very own playground.

RIM has just  announced the BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220. T-Mobile will be the exclusive carrier of the device this year when it is launched in the US and it will come in black or red. We were not given pricing or an exact release date, but we’re assuming those sorts of things will all be made clearer at the next CTIA Show.

Whoa, looks like HTC is going full-device touchscreen in a hurry. We don’t know much more than what we can scrape off the screen, but this BlackBerry Thunder(storm)-like handset looks to be running TouchFLO 3D atop WinMo 6.1 and a Qualcomm 7201a processor kicking 528MHz.

But that display, WVGA, please HTC we want to believe.

*According to the “ninja” who “reviewed” it. Like we reported, the whole screen is a button, and the method of navigating the phone involves using the physical buttons, and then touching and clicking the screen to select something. We dont get the on screen keyboard either. Fast Forward to around 2:55 for the BlackBerry Thunder / Storm.

Say, for a moment, that Windows Mobile is Planet Earth; if the Touch Diamond lies somewhere around the North Pole, then we think you’d find this one freezing its ass off down in Antarctica. It’s a stretch of an analogy, we know, but it’s difficult to express just how different (and by “different” we mean “less attractive”) i-mate’s rumored “Hummer” is than some of its Windows Mobile 6.1 contemporaries. Granted, it does HSDPA, WiFi, and it’s supposed to be ruggedized — but we’re not really convinced that exposed screws were the right way to get that point across. Then again, most of the devices rumored out of the house of i-mate from last year didn’t make it to production, and this one may very well not either, so why sweat it?

There it is, Sony Ericsson just went live with its new G705 powerhouse, 3G slider. Just as we heard, it sports a 2.4-inch display with automatic screen rotation courtesy of an accelerometer, WiFi, aGPS with Google Maps for Mobile, 1GB included M2 memory, built-in FM radio, RSS reader, and full HTML browser. It also features a 3.2 megapixel cam that can capture video and then upload directly to YouTube under a new partnership with Google.
