T-Mobile’s Motorola G1 V2, Android repeat. Who’s the third party?

5-11-09mtoandroid2T-mobile has confirmed that it will be launching multiple Android devices from three partners later this year. Yes we know that HTC and Samsung are two of the three partners but the question on everyone’s mind is who the third is and the identity of the one to make the puzzling G1 V2. Drum roll, please: it’ll be Motorola, we think!

The commenter has noticed that the button labels of the alleged G1 v2 look very similar to those recently launched Moto phones. This will be Motorola’s first Android device, a rumor that foretold with pinpoint accuracy about a slider QWERTY device. The soothsayer’s speak the truth except that HTC doesn’t seem to be doing a sequel of the G1. But T-mobile has this trademark and is calling the shots. Let’s see if the traveling roadmap of T-mobile is vindicated.

And quite possibly the G1 v2 device might even be Samsung’s Bigfoot…who knows? These are crazy times.

Samsung preparando una gran cantidad de 3G para T-Mobile este año

img00103-20090505-1255No se sabe como la gente logra conseguir tantas fotos buenas de teléfonos que no están programadas para su anuncio – y mucho menos lanzamiento – durante meses, pero ¿Quiénes somos nosotros para quejarnos? Unos amigos astutos en los foros de TmoNews están mostrando mucho de la línea 2009 de Samsung para T-Mobile, y la primer noticia fantástica aquí es que todo lo que estamos viendo es aparentemente 3G; es bueno saber que T-Mobile está suficientemente seguro acerca de su instalación AWS para iniciar un período de transición de su línea a 3G en masa, y la decisión de líneas 3G siempre nos pone contentos. De todas maneras, aquí tenemos el Gravity 2 en colores rojo y naranja, el candybar de 20 teclas t349, y eso no es todo para los fanáticos de QWERTY y medio-QWERTY – hay un clamshell sin nombre aquí (en la imagen) que estará disponible en dos colores. Finalmente, hay un equipo todo touchscreen aparentemente de bajo costo, pareciendo ser casi un cruce entre un Cookie y un Instinct s30 que ejecuta TouchWiz y presenta una cámara de 3 megapíxeles. No se ve nada Android aquí, aunque el cartel dice que el equipo sería el i7500 y que no estará disponible hasta Noviembre – una pena, si es que es cierto.

El Palm Pre definitivamente llegará a Canadá en Bell Mobility la segunda mitad del año

Así parece, ya que sólo a cuatro meses de que Ed Colligan declaró orgulloso que quería el Pre en manos canadienses, Palm ha revelado que el equipo de futuro lanzamiento en efecto bendecirá las ondas celulares en el Norte. Los canadienses tendrán que confiar en Bell Mobility (una compañía CDMA, para los que no saben) para su servicio, y tendrán que esperar hasta “la segunda mitad del 2009” para darse el gusto. Samsung Android i7500 – Video hands-on

Granted the software is not yet in its final state, but overall it looks to be shaping up to be a good phone, and a good sign for Android devices. Its features are: quad-band GSM, tri-band 7.2mbps, HSDPA (900/1700/2100MHz) handset with 3.2 inch, 320 x 480 AMOLED touchscreen, WiFi, GPS, 5mp camera, 8gb storage with MicroSD (expansion up to 32gb) and 3.5mm jack. HTC Touch imposter T-Mobile Vairy Touch, ZTE Orange Vegas

t-mobie-viery-touch-mobil-czYes, you’re right and wrong at the same time. You’re right that it resembles the T-Mobile HTC Touch and you’re wrong because it’s not the HTC Touch. It’s the T-Mobile Vairy Touch, a ZTE-sourced cell phone (a Chinese manufacturer) Orange (a western European carrier) Vegas (the name of the HTC rip off)—all clear?. Anyway, the folks at Mobil.vz commented on its performance. The Vairy Touch is cheap (about 80 US bucks). Has a full-touchscreen with a original user interface. Touchscreen accuracy is good, but it needs to be fingered (ahem) with a bit of pressure to activate. The stylus is kinda useless. And its cherry is: that the browser is quite good, and the thing is small and light. So that’s a wrap for the Vairy Touch. If you’re on the Western European block and decide to pick Orange’s Vegas be sure to write exciting stories about it.

LG KM900 Arena with video

lgarena-portadaYou might say the LG Arena does look like a mirror image of the iPhone but it’s actually thinner and browsing its music and photo manager area you’ll see that it has a Coverflow feel to it. We covered parts of the Arena’s systems and preparations, though in Spanish, during Mobile World Congress. It may seem just another cool touch screen mobile device but this LG is now blessed with a new S-Class 3D interface, which Engadget Spanish says the Arena responds well and its selection of applications is vast. This seems like a great phone to sit back and kick it with when you’re on the beach or it makes a great companion to go traveling with to some unheard of destination, but by now with all this technology we’ve most likely heard of all the places on earth…if not heard; it has to be written somewhere online. El LG GC900 Viewty Smart mimado y previsualizado

lg-gc900-viewty-smart-hands-onLuego de ser revelado oficialmente (dos veces) para el mercado Europeo el mes pasado, el GC900 Viewty Smart de LG finalmente ha llegado a las manos de la gente en GSMArena. La unidad que ves arriba es en realidad una unidad de pre-producción, pero ha sido preparada lo suficiente como para garantizar una previsualizacion a escala completa hasta que se comiencen a enviar unidades de revisión. Una de las principales revelaciones fue esta línea: “No es un smartphone, no importa cuanto nos hubiera gustado eso; en cambio, es un telefono regular completamente tactil, pero con un UI realmente sofisticado y funcionalidades de imagen de primera categori­a. Los cri­ticos pasaron un tiempo revisando su destacada amara de 8MP, y aunque se quedaron satisfechos con la calidad y color de las imágenes, no los entusiasm mucho la capacidad del telefono para capturar video. En general, no pudieron evitar elogiar su pantalla y su “inmejorable interfaz de usuario”, lo que definitivamente nos deja con ganas de tener una unidad terminada en nuestras manos.

Los planes de T-Mobile Android revelan al Samsung Houdini y G1 v2 Bigfoot llegando este otoño

A pesar de que este documento tiene más barras de censura que un comercial de Girls Gone Wild, TmoToday consiguió tener en sus manos lo que parece ser la guía de planificación 2009 de T-Mobile US. Aunque muchas de las mejores cosas seguramente están escondidas – aunque es bueno ver a T-Mo con algo de acción Android en producción – hay algunos chismecitos que se pueden sacar de este documento. En primer lugar, muestra el HTC G2 con su lanzamiento este verano. Considerando que el equipo apareció recientemente en el sistema de inventario de T-Mobile, eso parece ser cierto. El que sigue es el G1 siendo EOLed luego de la temporada de regreso a clases de este año. No se preocupen fanáticos del teclado físico, ya que el documento también revela lo que ha sido apodado internamente como “G1 v2” y “Bigfoot” programados para lanzarse este otoño. Dejando de lado los extraños nombres, el equipo se asemeja mucho al Helio Ocean 2 viendo el prototipo – un slider QWERTY con esquinas demasiadas redondeadas. Y por último, pero no menos importante, un pequeño prototipo que podría ser nuestro primer vistazo a un segundo equipo Android en el canal de Samsung, identificado como “Houdini”. Una vez más, podría sólo ser una mala y vieja representación del I7500. De todas maneras, tres aplausos por más equipos Android llegando este año! Salen imágenes del HTC Hero con Android

Todos pueden suspirar aliviados ya que el teléfono, primeramente visto en un glorioso rosa fucsia, se muestra con un típico acabado negro mate. El equipo se asemeja al HTC Magic sin TrackBall y tiene un mentón del que hasta Jay Leno se sentiría orgulloso. Una de las imágenes también revela la presencia de un gran agujero sugiriendo la presencia de un jack de auricular de 3.5mm. ¡Qué bueno! T-Mobile Samsung 3G Lineup: Gravity 2, t349, etc.

Always wonder how some people get pictures of mobile devices before the actual release? Yeah, we do too. It seems that on TmoNews’ forum a poster loaded up some images of a few T-Mobile Samsung cell phones for 2009. And all signs point to a 3G trend. And it is a notch in the positive-factor-reader when T-Mobile’s transitions its line-up to all 3G—its AWS (advanced wireless service) must be solid.

So let’s see what we got here: the Gravity 2, you can either choose from red or orange; a 20-key t349 candybar, an anonymous clamed shell that will be available in two colors. And finally a low-end full touch-screen device that looks like a mix of Cookie and Instinct s30 (featuring TouchWiz + 3 MP camera).

Android you say? Well the Samsung i7500 will soon be making its splash and creating its own adventure stories (so to speak) sometime during the winter.

Palm Pre making its way to Canada

Palm will be launching in Canada during the second half of 2009. Its carrier will be Bell Mobility – a CDMA carrier. If any Canadians are interested in receiving notifications hit this up and hold on to what may seem a long time. Let’s hope not…because Pre for all is a good thing.

El BlackBerry Curve 83XX supera al iPhone 3G en los rankings de smartphones en US

5-9-08-curve_8330_vzwEl equipo podría haber sido superado en funcionalidad y apariencia por su sucesor Curve 8900, pero nadie tiene ventaja sobre la serie BlackBerry Curve 83XX en ventas de smartphones. De acuerdo a NDP, el equipo destronó al iPhone 3G en la categoría para el primer trimestre de 2009, mientras que los propios equipos Storm y Pearl de BlackBerry se encuentran en el tercer y cuarto lugar, con el T-Mobile G1 en el quinto lugar. En general, el mercado de smartphones ha crecido de un 17% de ventas en el primer trimestre de 2008 a un 23% en el primer trimestre de 2009. Comparado con el trimestre anterior, RIM ha logrado aumentar su cuota en el mercado de EEUU en un 15% — teniendo casi la mitad de los smartphones – mientras que Apple y Palm han perdido un 10% mientras se preparan para sus heroicos lanzamientos de mitad de año.

El BlackBerry Curve 8900 de RIM llega en forma oficial a AT&T a “principios de verano”

A sólo un día después de que el BlackBerry Curve 8900 de RIM pasaría de T-Mobile a AT&T llega esto – la confirmación oficial de parte de la misma compañía. Cargado con WiFi, GPS y una pantalla con resolución 480 x 360, este ‘Berry incluye WiFi de AT&T gratis a más de 20,000 hotspots (con un plan data ilimitado, aunque suene irónico) y una cámara de 3.2 megapíxeles. También tiene un slot microSD / SDHC que soporta tarjetas de hasta 16GB, y mientras AT&T no nos comunique el precio (ya que no se ha dicho nada aún), los clientes fieles pueden esperar que llegue a “principios de verano”. En otras palabras, todo este lanzamiento ha extinguido el furor de los rumores.

El emblemático N97 de Nokia con su propio sitio web y link de reservas

nokia-n97-website-preorderSi las animaciones flash y la 5° edición del S60 forman parte de tu idea de pasarla bien entonces querrás meterte en la nueva página de inicio interactiva del N97 de Nokia. Desde allí puedes acercarte al emblemático slider de Nokia con pantalla touchscreen resistiva de 3.2 pulgadas y 640×360 píxeles de resolución antes de su esperado lanzamiento en Junio. Así que entra y pulsa el nuevo botón de reservas en vivo luego de que estés convencido de que éste es el smarthphone para ti. Seguramente, habrá muchas posibles competencias en junio pero anímate: al Samsung i7500 con Android le falta un QWERTY, no existe garantías de que un iPhone de próxima generación se lance en junio, y el Palm Pre podría terminar siendo una porquería. T-Mobile Roadmap for Android Devices

Roadmaps are fun because they contain routes to your predestined destination so you can see and gauge your progress. T-Mobile seems to have its own 2009 Android roadmap for the phones that will come this year (image at Read), for those that love to anticipate releases and cellular launches. Yet the roadmap may be a little vague but it does show quality products on its way and into your hands. Foremost it shows HTCs G2 launch this summer, sounds right on track. G1 being EOLed. And the G1 v2 and Bigfoot for this fall, which are physical keyboard devices. And a first glimpse to what seems to be a second Android device from Samsung, the Houdini. But who knows it can be an ugly offspring of the i7500. So more Androids coming to take over this year. Now this is why roadmaps are fun; when you’re traveling about you can see your desires in plain sight but still quite far away.

The phone that is jam-packed with WiFi, GPS, a 480 x 360 display, and a 3.2mp camera, which also includes free AT&T WiFi at over 20,000 hotspots (with the purchase of an unlimited data plan). It also has microSD and SDHC slots, which supports to 16GB. It’ll soon be available during the summertime. Pricing is not yet out. So now that the 8900 rumors have been chilled what other amazing stories can be concocted till then.

Blackberry 83XX series leads over iPhone in the US Market

5-9-08-curve_8330_vzwThe numbers are in. And it seems that the Blackberry Curve83XX series in smartphone sales have been topping the charts. According to NPH, the mobile device shot ahead of the iPhone 3G, the first quarter of 2009. Coming up in the third and forth were Blackyberry’s own Storm and Pearl, with the T-Mobile G1sitting semi-pretty in fifth. Smartphones are gaining popularity in the US markets.

Seems like RIM is in a good position with sales as it controls 15% share of the US market, owning almost half of the entire pie. Apple and Palm both dropped a dime as they prepare for their adventurous mid-year launches.
